Kate's degree is in French and German (Dual Honours) from the University of Sheffield. During this course she lived in both France and Germany. Her time in Germany was spent in the accounts office of a large conference centre near Frankfurt, which gave her her initial interest in accountancy as a career.

Kate trained as a Chartered Accountant with accountancy firm Deloitte and Touche (now Deloitte) in Manchester. During her 5 years with the firm she worked in the audit department, gaining experience with a wide range of different businesses.

Following qualification, Kate moved to a blue chip company called Tetrapak (an international manufacturing company) as Finance Team Leader for Eastern Europe and Africa. This was a high pressured but enjoyable challenging position managing a team of mainly non-native English speaking accountants, purchase ledger and bank ledger clerks. This gave her the opportunity to use her fluency in French and German at work.

After starting a family in 2005, Kate moved to a part time position at TaxAssist Accountants in Manchester with a view to extending her experience of small business and individual tax matters and their administration. TaxAssist is a franchise of accountants who specialise in accounting and taxation matters for small businesses.

During her time at TaxAssist, Kate started to build up a small portfolio of her own clients, to the extent that by 2007 she was able to become fully self employed.

Kate works from home, balancing family and work commitments. She aims to build her practice over the coming years, remaining local and therefore maintaining the informal and friendly service.
